Great British Sauce Company is based in Hadleigh, Suffolk (IP7 6RD) and prides itself on its sauces always being made in Great Britain – living the brand.

I love the ethos of this company – one of the co-founders Andrew states it all began “for him with the legendary chef Keith Floyd. TV and media 20 years ago brought a new enthusiasm for modern British cooking. British food was literally being reinvented”. Andrew and his business partners set out to bring their love for good food and most important, their love of sauces and bottle it up for the public.

So what’s the Sweet Curry Sauce like? Its sweetness is what hits you first and I had a slight fear that it wasn’t going to deliver the depth of flavour I was hoping for. But it does and the spices of cumin, coriander, turmeric and garlic come through really nicely – they really have nailed it with this sauce.

GB Sauce also doesn’t pack its sauces full of crap. No artificial colours or flavourings. I got a massive nostalgia hit as it reminded me of the mince lamb curry my gran used to make – in fact so much so that I tried it with some savoury minced lamb and the two were a match made in heaven.

Is it a staple for the fridge or cupboard? I think I could have too much of this good thing and I wouldn’t want to get sick of this delicious flavour. I think this is one for of the fridge and one to roll out for friends who get nervous of spice but I think it would be easy to overdose on this and ruin it.
